Goodbye Google

Paranoia struck when I realised the amount of data I've been feeding Google and my increasing dependency upon it's online services. I moved my shit offline, downloaded all mails, switched to Liferea, Evolution, Tor and vuja de!...went back to yahoo mail.

With effect from Jan 27th, 2010 you will not able to IM/e-mail me on sindhusundar88

Although I will still have access to a gmail type account on me [at] sindhu-s [dot] com until domain expires in 2011.

Bold move!
Why not have just one email address at your own domain - and change the forwarding address to the account you are using(gmail or yahoo).

Nice pic. It's scary as to how a single organization controls so much of our personal info, and the endless possibilities they have with it. Strange but I could never shift back to Yahoo!, after gmail, everything appears so childish & primitive.

Hope you dont lose any data *fingers crossed*
It realy makes you think that if a person gets hold of your email id/password he could steal a whole lot of data.

Agreed with everything except... Yahoo mail? Seriously? Using any random service with POP or IMAP would be better than Yahoo mail. I want to read email without Yahoo's retarded ads inline please.

@Marc, @Magnus: I wouldn't have chosen Yahoo, had I not had the feature back up. I detest using yahoo's web interface for emails just as much as you do. So I set up Evolution (my mail client on Ubuntu) to fetch yahoo mails via POP. See : http://www.michaelontech.com/2009/09/check-yahoos-ymail-mail-in-gmail-by.html

@Kenneth: All mails imported on to the EEE disk via POP :)

@Binny: I want to go back to anonymity very soon. Am waiting on the domain name to expire so I have no intention in setting up mailboxes. I already have access to Google Apps via my domain name.

'm not sure why Yahoo - if anything their Spam filter is absolutely useless, more spam in Inbox than junk. Why not use Mail Server on your domain as temporary storage when you're offline ?
